This project challenges the environmental impact of single-use packaging by reimagining an existing Canadian consumer product through the lens of sustainability, usability, and play. In response to industry trends, such as minimizing waste, promoting up-cycling, and designing for recyclability, I redesigned the Littlest Pet Shop Pet Pals packaging to reflect a more responsible and creative approach.
The new structure transforms the package into a recyclable and reusable cardboard playhouse, complete with a functional door and two levels. The outer wrap works as the seal and is made from recyclable paper, designed for easy removal. Die-cut windows showcase the toy figurines inside, while biodegradable paper strips replace plastic stuffing. This redesign offers both environmental and emotional value, extending the life of the packaging through imaginative reuse.
